Path of Trust: An Off-Chain Performance Enhancement Algorithm for Public Blockchains

Blockchain technology is one among the latest innovations in computing industry. Blockchains have gathered widespread interest industry due to their potential as secure data storage. Despite benefits of blockchains, there are several limitations which hinders mass deployment, these being low throughput. Low throughput has limited blockchain adoption large scale applications such banking or mobile payments. This study addresses this limitation through development a performance enhancement algorithm called Path Trust (PoT). PoT uses off-chain stratergy transactions meeting certain criteria bypass main chain and sent direct recipient. The was incorporated into wallet that developed app. Experiments were run verify solution. Based on experiments performed, based solution improved when compared original blockchain. With running, average transaction processing time 12.81 secs per 18.52 not running.
